Oporto was the first branch of the BHSP to be set up outside the Lisbon area. Its membership is composed mainly of long-term residents of the Northern capital, including British, Portuguese and other nationalities, with English as their common language. The branch organises occasional visits and several talks during the year on subjects of Anglo-Portuguese interest. Talks are often followed by an opportunity for discussion with the speaker over a meal. Events organised by the three branches are open to ALL members of the Society but enrolments must be made through the branch responsible for the event.
